Badge Bowl VII
| Badge Bowl VII was held on Saturday, November 22, 2008, where Tampa Fire Rescue (Firestorm) played the Tampa Police Department (Gladiators) in Badge Bowl VII. Badge Bowl is a flag football game to benefit the Foundation of Courage, a non-profit organization supporting children in the Bay area with cancer.A portion of the proceeds from the event will be placed in a secured account to benefit a child from the Tampa Bay area that is fighting this life-threatening disease. This year’s recipient is Angelo Cerchione. He is a 7 year-old boy who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on August 22, 2005. At the time of diagnosis his father, Eddie was deployed overseas. He currently active military in the air force. Angelo is 3 years into treatment and is almost finished with his protocol. Angelo has an older sister, Isabella who is 9 years old. She is a wonderful big sister and “mom” to Angelo. With all of the turmoil in their lives, Angelo’s mom still has made time to pursue a career in nursing for which she is currently in school for. With multiple family sacrifices they still seem to remain strong and fight each day as it comes. Thanks to generous sponosrs and wonderful community supporters this year’s event was a tremendous success! Badge Bowl VII raised over $40,000 with attendance numbers surprassing previous years. Stay tuned as we set dates for next year's event.
